Router

A router is a special piece of communications equipment that allows multiple computers to use one dial out connection over a Local Area Network. With a router it is even possible for multiple computers to use the connection simultaneously. It is important to keep in mind that the performance of the connection will decrease when more than one computer is using the line at the same time. This decrease can be considerable over conventional phone lines and 14.4 or 28.8 bps modems.
