Edstar. Ed Wiener's jewelry design was stimulated by the contemporary art movement of the post WW II era, taking clues from the work of Picasso and Calder. This starburst brooch and earrings set is typical of the work crafted and sold in his New York city shops of the 1940's and 1950's. 790BSA. Circa the 1950's, this set was created by Sam Kramer (1913-1964), considered one of the most important postwar avant-garde studio jewelers of the 1940's and 50's. Kramer's work was inspired by surrealist imagery and he was a unique, very well known personality in Greenwich Village. His quite desirable jewelry has been showcased in numerous galleries and museums, including the American Craft Museum in New York, the Montreal Museum of Decorative Arts, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, and the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Paris.
