The New Testament Books of 1 and 2nd Thessalonians
The New Testament Book of First Thessalonians
Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks:
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
1Thessalonians 5:16-18 KJV
* CHAP * COMMENTS
* 1 * Paul, Silvanus & Timotheus to the Church of the Thesalonians. We pray
for you, knowing your election of God. Our gospel came to you & you
became followers of us & the Lord. You became examples to believers
in Macedonia & Achaia for the word sounded out from you. This shows
how you turned from idols to serve God & to wait on Jesus from heaven.
* 2 * Our coming to you, after shameful treatment at Philippi wasn't in vain.
We spake the gospel of God. We didn't seek men's glory. We were gentle.
You were dear to us. You remember our work. We said to walk worthy of
You received the truth as God's word. We long to see you.
* 3 * We sent Timothy to establish & comfort you in your faith. Don't be
moved by your trials. Timothy brought us good word of your faith &
charity. We pray that we may see you. The Lord make you to abound
in love & establish your hearts unblameable before God.
* 4 * We beseech & exhort you to abound more and more in the walk that you
received from us to please God. Abstain from fornication. Don't
defraud your brother. You are taught of God to love one another, &
you do. Study to be quiet, to do your own business, & work with your
own hands. I don't want you ignorant concerning those that sleep.
Sorrow not. The dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we shall rise
with them to meet the Lord. Comfort one another with these words.
* 5 * The day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night. Ye are children
of the light, we are not of darkness. Let us not sleep but be
watchful and sober. God has appointed us not to wrath but to obtain
salvation. Know and esteem them that labor among you & are over you
in the Lord. Paul provides a number of admonitions and then asks
for prayers.
The New Testament Book of 2 Thessalonians
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be
revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance
on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord,
and from the glory of his power;
2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 KJV
* CHAP * COMMENTS
* 1 * Paul, Silvanus & Timothy to the Church of the Thesalonians. We thank
God for you, your faith grows, your charity abounds. We glory in
your faith & patience in tribulation. It is a righteous thing with
God to recompense tribulation to thouse that trouble you. Those who
are troubled rest with us.The Lord Jesus will be revealed with his
holy angels in flaming fire taking vengenance on them that know not
God. We pray that God would count you worthy of his calling & the
name of our Lord may be glorified in you.
* 2 * We beseech you that you not be soon shaken or troubled that the day
Christ is at hand. There will 1st be a falling away, and the man of
sin be revealed. God shall send those that did not recieve the love
of the truth strong delusions that they should believe a lie. All
who believe not the truth but have pleasure in unrighteousness shall
be damned. God has chosen you to salvation through sanctification of
the Spirit and belief of the truth. Stand fast! Hold the traditions
which ye have been taught! God has given us good hope through grace.
Comfort your hearts. Establish yourself in every good word & work.
* 3 * Pray for us that the word may have free course & that we may be
delivered from unreasonable and wicked men. But the Lord is faithful.
Withdraw from every brother that walks disorderly. You know how you
should walk from the example we left before you. If any will not work
neither shall he eat. Don't be weary in well doing. The grace of our
Lord Jesus be with you all.
