The New Testament Book of 2 Timothy

But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

2 Timothy 2:23-24 KJV

* CHAP * COMMENTS

* 1 * Paul to Timothy, my dearly beloved son. I remember you in my prayers night and day. I greatly desire to see you. I remember the faith that is in you, that was first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice. Stir up the gift of God that is in you. God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and of love, and of a sound mind. Don't be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, or of me. God has saved us and called us according to his own purpose and grace. I know in whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep what I have committed to him against that day. Hold fast! Onesiphorus oft refreshed me.
* 2 * Be strong in Christ's grace. The things you have heard from me commit to faithful men. Endure hardness as a good soldier of Christ. Remember Jesus of the seed of David was raised from the dead. If we suffer we shall also reign with him. Strive not about words to no profit. Study to show thyself approved unto God. The Lord knoweth them that are his. If a man purge himself from these he shall be a vessel unto honor. Flee youthful lusts. The servant of the Lord must not strive.
* 3 * Perilous times will come in the last days. Men will love themselves, having a a form of godliness but denying the power thereof. Ever learning but never able to come to the truth. All that will live godly in Christ will suffer persecution. All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable that the man of God may be thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
* 4 * Preach the word. Be instant in season, out of season. The time will un come in which they will not endure sound doctrine. Watch in all things. I am now ready to be offered. The time of my departure is hand. I have fought a good fight. Come shortly to me. At first no man stood with me. The Lord will deliver me from every evil work and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom.
