The New Testament Books of Titus and Philemon
The New Testament Book of Titus
Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and
unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him ...
Titus 1:15-16 KJV
* CHAP * COMMENTS
* 1 * Paul a servant and apostle to Titus my son after the common faith.
I left you in Crete to set in order the things that were lacking,
and to ordain elders in every city. There are many vain talkers
and deceivers specially they of the circumcision. Rebuke them that
they may be sound in the faith. To the pure all tings are pure.
To the defined & unbelieving is nothing pure. They claim to know
God but deny Him in their works.
* 2 * Speak the things that become sound doctrine to:
aged men, aged women, servants, young women, young men.
God's grace that brings salvation has appeared unto all men,
teaching us to deny ungodliness & worldly lusts, we should live
soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world.
* 3 * Teach them to be obedient to government and to be ready to do good
works. Don't speak evil of any for we have sinned also. But God
has saved us. We must be careful to maintain good works. Avoid
foolish questions. Reject a heretic after second admonition. Be
diligent to come to me at Nicopolis. All with me salute you. Greet
them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all.
The New Testament Book of Philemon
For we have great joy and consolation in thy love ...
Philemon 7 KJV
* CHAP * COMMENTS
* 1 * Paul & Timothy to Philemon and Apphia and Archippus and the church
in thy house. I always pray for you. We have joy and consolation
in thy love. Though I might be bold to enjoin thee, yet I beseech
thee as Paul the aged and the prisoner of the Lord, for Onesimus.
He was unprofitable to you. I am sending him to you, though I
would have retained him with me. Receive him not as a servant,
but a beloved brother (especially to me). Receive him as you would
receive me. Prepare lodging for me, I trust through your prayers
to be given to you. Greet my fellow laborers. The grace of Christ
be with your spirit. Amen.
